I’m Kyle Griffith. I work in IT in Birmingham, Alabama, and I’m working toward a career in finance.

I grew up a military brat and have spent most of my life in the Southeast. I started working at 14 in a Mexican restaurant. At 19 I was a service writer at an auto shop, and I left that job to start a landscaping business. It didn’t work out. At 21 I moved into IT.

I got into finance the way a lot of people do: by getting my own money in order. That led to investing, and investing led to digging into the companies and ETFs I was actually buying. Somewhere in there I realized the part I enjoyed most was the analysis: seeing how the big picture plays out in a single company’s numbers, and how those companies add up to the big picture. That’s what I want to do for a living.

I write about personal finance, markets, and the business side of college football: the money behind the game, from media rights and NIL to athletic department budgets.
